The NCCAOM Foundations Module will cover the all the information you need to know to pass the Foundations acupuncture exam. The module reviews the basic Foundations information including 5 element, yin yang theory, qi, blood and body fluid theory, 8 principle theory, and the Zang Fu organ functions and relationships. The Diagnosis I class covers the 10 asking questions,  Shang han Lun, Wen Bing, and 5 Element. The Diagnosis II class covers the Zang Fu organs, with in-depth comparisons that will prepare you to quickly diagnose the case studies. Additionally, this class will also cover elements of tongue and pulse diagnosis. Class Descriptions

NCCAOM Foundations / Diagnosis I

This class gives detailed information on what is essential to pass the NCCAOM acupuncture exam(s). From discussions on foundations, tongue and pulse, and the different diagnostic systems, all information is covered. No stone is left unturned.

NCCAOM Diagnosis II

Clear comprehension of Zang Fu pattern differentiation is an essential part of the information needed to pass the NCCAOM exams(s). We examine and identify the symptoms, making diagnostic options clear and simple.

NCCAOM Diagnosis III / Case Studies I

This class explores memorization strategies, teaching you how to gain command of the vast amount of information needed to pass your exam. The second part of this class teaches you how to logically take a multiple choice exam, focusing on methods to eliminate the tendency to guess at the correct answer. This class completes with the TCM Review Seminars method to the dissection of Case Studies.

NCCAOM Diagnosis IV / Case Studies II

This class re-applies the strategies covered in Diagnosis III / Case Studies I, further honing your skills to approach Case Studies with a greater analytical focus.

NCCAOM Single Points I

This class reviews the important points of the first 7 channels, including functions, needling depths, and correlations to both herbs and diagnostic parameters. This class eases you into point prescriptions. This class clarifies choosing accurate point prescriptions, using single points I and II as your base of knowledge.

NCCAOM Single Points II

In this class, the important points of the last 7 channels are covered, including functions, needling depths, and correlations to both herbs and diagnostic parameters. This class clarifies choosing accurate point prescriptions, using single points I and II as your base of knowledge.

NCCAOM CAM Point RX

This 3 hour class takes you through all the essential CAM point prescriptions, including explanations of why each point is included in the prescription. Additionally, diagnosis, herbs and biomedicine correlations are discussed to clarify point prescriptions where applicable.

NCCAOM Maciocia Point RX

Did you know that Maciocia point prescriptions are built like herbal formulas? This 3 hour class takes you through the essential MAC point prescriptions and explains why each point is included in the prescription. Additionally, diagnosis, herbs and biomedicine correlations are discussed to clarify point prescriptions where applicable.

NCCAOM Acupuncture Extra’s / Big Picture / Point Location

In this 3 hour class, we have condensed the essential material for ear acupuncture, scalp acupuncture, acupuncture cautions, contraindications, moxa, cupping, point location, landmarks and organ pathways. Additionally, this class works with the memorization of all the points and their functions, covering all the point locations for the NCCAOM, providing an efficient method for memorizing the overall big picture points.

NCCAOM Single Herbs I

This class covers information on all the essential single herbs you need to know to pass the NCCAOM herbology exam. Contraindications, functions, important dosages, antagonist herbs, and cautions are discussed.

NCCAOM Single Herbs II

This class is a continuation of Single Herbs I – all the essential single herbs you need to know to pass the NCCAOM herbology exam. Contraindications, functions, important dosages, antagonist herbs, and cautions are discussed.

NCCAOM Formulas I

This class is a detailed review of each of the NCCAOM formulas. Includes comparisons, key symptoms, tongue and pulse, contraindications, and hierarchies.

NCCAOM Formulas II

This class completes the review of the remaining NCCAOM formulas. Includes comparisons, key symptoms, tongue and pulse, contraindications ,hierarchies, King herbs and the uses of biomedicine.

NCCAOM Biomedicine I

This class provides an overview of the uses of biomedicine knowledge essential to passing the NCCAOM. We outline and discuss the basics, including hormones, dermatomes, vitamins, and lab tests. We cover the major biomedicine diseases, discussing their symptoms, tests and key red flags.

NCCAOM Biomedicine II

This class expands the principles of biomedicine, reviewing key signs, symptoms and tests for common biomedical western diseases. In completion, the uses of pharmacology and orthopedic testing are discussed as well. This class includes Medical Red Flags for Acupuncturists.

NCCAOM Acupuncture Risk Management

Technical Details You Should Know

Student Access

All students of TCM Review Seminars courses receive an account with access to the course(s) they’re enrolled in. Once logged in to the Student Portal, students will have access to the Virtual Classroom and other resources like course documents, announcements, and resources like the quiz website and flashcards. The TCM Review Seminar website is built on the powerful WordPress content management system.

The entire website can be viewed across all popular devices, including smart phones and tablets. The ability to view the live events and recordings will depend on the capacity of the device being used.


LIVE Webinars

adobeTCM Review Seminars uses the state of the art Adobe Connect video conferencing software for all Live Webinar classes. The software displays multiple windows during the live event, allowing for viewers to see the teacher, a blackboard space for worksheets and notes, and a chat field window to allow for real time interaction between teachers and students. The Live Webinars using the Adobe connect software can only be streamed on a computer. Due to the bandwidth needed and the technology Adobe uses, hand held devices and tablets will not stream the Live Webinars.

Afirefox_logo2.jpgdobe requires the Firefox internet browser, a free download from Mozilla. Apple Safari can be used, but sometimes with viewing issues. Google Chrome and Microsoft Internet Explorer are not supported with the Adobe platform. The first time students watch the Live Webinar classes, the Adobe software will prompt students to follow a simple instructions for “plugin” installation – a small piece of free software that is automatically installed in your internet browser. The process is simple and painless!

In the rare event that technical difficulties occur during a live event, both TCM Review Seminars and Adobe have technical support folks on hand to help with any issues that might arise.

 


RECORDED Webinars

Following the Live classes (usually on Sundays), all recordings are made available by the following Tuesday at 10am in the Virtual Classroom of the TCM Review Seminars website. These recordings are available for students who are:

  • enrolled in the Recorded Webinar NCCAOM Review Course; or
  • enrolled in the Live Webinar NCCAOM Review Course but who missed a class (up to 3 allowed)

vimeoFor the recorded classes, we use Vimeo, a powerful video streaming platform, and serve the videos directly to the class pages of the Virtual Classroom of the TCM Review Seminar website. Vimeo videos work seamlessly across all popular devices automatically, including smart phones and tablets. All internet browsers are supported on Vimeo.

Note: the recording only allows traditional video capabilities (play, pause, rewind, forward). It does not allow the functions and capabilities of the Adobe Connect software used in the Live Webinars (chat features, blackboard cut and paste function, microphone features, etc.).


Internet Connection

In order to participate in the Live Webinar classes or watch the Recorded Webinars, students should consider their internet speed. Most modern computers can stream videos and live events with no problem. Issues usually arise with internet speed. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Live Webinars – at least 3-4 mbps download speed
  • Recorded Webinars – at least 2-3 mbps download speed

Please check with your internet service provider (Comcast, Verizon, etc.) or run a test at speedtest.net to determine this.

If you stream high quality videos on Netflix or iTunes, you should have no problem participating in the Live or Recorded Webinars. Watching a YouTube video with no problem is not a good indicator of whether you will be able to stream the Live or Recorded Webinars without interruption – their content is usually of much lower quality.
