They appear on exams in two different forms.

The first way is in short answer memorization-type questions based on the pulse names, pulse qualities and pulse indications as they appear in the textbooks.

The second way is how tongue and pulse appear in different Zang Fu patterns, Shan Han Lun patterns and other presentations across different TCM Diagnostic Theories.

This form is good to know for case studies.
